A Jefferson County man has been convicted of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a man during an argument on Aug. 11, 2006.
Bikram Mishra, 28, shot and killed Richard Ritter Jr. after a night of heavy drinking at Mishra's home at 6934 W. Otero Place in south Jefferson County.
Ritter had been staying at Mishra's home while helping him with a home-repair project.
The two began arguing after a night of playing cards and neighbors saw them arguing in front of the house at 6 a.m.
Ritter stumbled out of the home after being shot about 6:30 a.m. and died on the porch of a neighbor's house.
Mishra admited shooting Ritter but said he thought he was an intruder.
