Weather calendar for August

Published August 1, 2007 at midnight

Weather patterns over Denver for the first half of August are similar to those found during July. Denver averages just over eight days of thunderstorm activity during the month, and severe thunderstorms are possible.

Denver's record high temperature of 105 degrees was set on Aug. 8, 1878.

This record was tied on July 20, 2005.

As the amount of daylight decreases as the month progresses, the summer weather pattern begins to break down.

Normal high temperatures drop into the lower 80s and the chances of severe thunderstorms decrease toward the end of August.
