Three keys
Key moments in the Rockies' 6-3 win against the Florida Marlins on Tuesday night at Dolphin Stadium:
1 With one out and runners on second and third in the third inning, the Marlins intentionally walked Matt Holliday, and Garrett Atkins followed with a three- run double.
2 Marlins right fielder Jeremy Hermida got a late jump, then made an ill-advised dive for Willy Taveras' game-opening drive in right field. The ball got past Hermida for a triple, and Jamey Carroll followed with a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead, ending the Rockies' road scoreless streak at 20 innings.
3 Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki had a rough third inning. With the Rockies already having scored four runs and with two on and one out, he was picked off first base by Marlins catcher Miguel Olivo. In the bottom of the inning, Tulowitzki's throwing error played a part in the Marlins' three-run inning.
Etc.
Holliday was voted best hitter in the National League in Baseball America's annual midseason survey of managers and coaches. Holliday was selected NL player of the week. He hit a home run in four of six games last week and had 10 RBI. It's the third time Holliday has won the award and the second time a Rockies player was selected this year. Brad Hawpe won the honor for the week of June 4. . . . Catcher Yorvit Torrealba led the Rockies with a .391 average in July and despite playing in 17 of 24 games, was second on the team with 25 hits. Atkins led the team with 29 hits. . . . The Marlins were the last of the National League teams to play the Rockies this year. The Rockies and Marlins had not played since June 4 last season, a stretch of 421 days, the second longest the Rockies have gone without facing an NL opponent. They had a stretch of 434 games without facing Philadelphia that ended last month. . . . Todd Helton was out of the lineup for the second time in 54 games. . . . Catcher Chris Iannetta's start was his fifth in 17 games since the All-Star break, the fourth time he has caught for Aaron Cook since the break. Cook has allowed six earned runs in 29 2/3 innings of those four starts.
