Forward Oreskovich signs with Avalanche
Forward Victor Oreskovich signed an entry-level contract Tuesday with the Avalanche, which drafted him in 2004.
The 20-year-old native of Whitby, Ontario, was the club's second selection (55th overall) three years ago after his freshman season at the University of Notre Dame.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward played his past two seasons with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League.
SKY SOX ROMP Ian Stewart belted two home runs and recorded four RBI to power the Pacific Coast League's Colorado Springs Sky Sox to an 11-6 home victory against the Omaha Royals.
Royals starter Luke Hochevar, a Fowler High School graduate, gave up nine earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
JETER LEADS ALL-STARS Colorado 14ers guard Pooh Jeter scored 17 points to help the NBA Development League's Ambassadors to an 89-80 victory against Venezuela at the Stankovic Continental Cup tournament in Macau.
The 14ers (2-1) will play Angola (3-0) today in the six-team round-robin tournament.
STOLTZ LEADS QUALIFIER Fort Collins resident Drew Stoltz earned medalist honors in the U.S. Amateur sectional qualifier at Colorado Golf Club in Parker.
Stoltz totaled a two-round 139 as the top qualifier, joined by Castle Rock's Michael Baird (145), a University of Colorado athlete, and Pueblo West's Zachary Zaremba (145), who has committed to play at the University of Wyoming.
The U.S. Amateur will be held Aug. 20-26 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The Olympic Club will host the U.S. Open in 2012.
Los Angeles resident Brent Brockermeyer (146) and Lakewood resident Bryan Olshock (147) were named alternates.
APERGIS IS AN ALL-STAR Columbine High School athlete Demitra Apergis was named to the All-Star team at the Keystone International Basketball Camp in Williamsport, Pa.

The Buffaloes play Florida State, Miami (Ohio), Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska at Folsom Field this season.
