New plan unveiled for North line

Published August 1, 2007 at midnight

COMMERCE CITY - A new recommended alignment for the North Metro FasTracks corridor would eliminate two Denver stations but add one in north Denver.

The alignment, which would follow Union Pacific, rather than Burlington Northern, tracks would drop the Denargo and Stock Show/Coliseum stations but add one in the Swansea/Elyria neighborhood, at 48th Avenue and Josephine Street.

The announcement was part of a presentation Tuesday night at Adams City High School by project managers on the North Metro corridor.

Nearly 50 people attended the meeting, in which the proposed alignment, station locations and vehicle technology for the $438 million, 18-mile rail line through Commerce City, Northglenn and Thornton were discussed.

A final recommendation on stations locations will not be made until early next year.
