Published August 1, 2007 at midnight
Two women were killed in a two-vehicle crash yesterday on Colorado 115 about eight miles south of Colorado Springs.
The Colorado State Patrol said a silver 2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon driven by Linda Kapler, 64, of Silver Cliff, was southbound about 5:40 p.m. when it crossed the double-yellow center line and collided with a northbound gray 2001 Cadillac SLS driven by James Dickey, 65.
A passenger in the Cadillac, Sydney Dickey, 64, of Colorado Springs, died at the scene of her injuries, the patrol said in a press release. James Dickey was airlifted to Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition this morning.
Linda Kapler was airlifted to Penrose Hospital but died shortly after arriving at the hospital last night, the patrol said.
There were no other occupants in the vehicles.
Troopers said Kapler and Sydney Dickey were wearing their seat belts. James Dickey was not restrained. Air bags deployed in both vehicles.
It was not immediately known if alcohol or drugs were factors in the
crash.
