What the #$*! Do We Know!?

If you've had your fill of formula fare, you may want to try What the #$*! Do We Know!?. I'm not entirely sure that the filmmakers have located the place where science and spirituality meet, but they sure had fun looking.

A team of three directors presents a lively exploration of quantum physics, mixing talking-head observations, giddy animation and a mini-drama about a photographer (Marlee Matlin) trying to deal with a failed love life.

We aren't told who the talking heads are until the end credits, which I found a bit troublesome, but most give good sound bites. (Talkers include physicists, neurologists, physicians and spiritual teachers.)

To enjoy this film you'll need a high tolerance for a visually busy style, and the movie seemed to lose some of its focus by the end. But there's enough substance here to warrant a look, and the filmmaking (sort of intellectual and visual aerobics) can be captivating and creative.
